In mid July we attended Christmas Expo and had a blast spending the week with good friends. We attended classes and spent lots of time in the Vendor Room looking at the newest in Christmas decor. It was a great event and the largest attended of all Christmas Expos. Walter taught a class in Pixel Tree Design and introduced his newest creation, the ASAP. NOW---it's time to get to work for the upcoming 2016 Christmas display.

for up-to-date post concerning the 2015 display. We left home early Saturday morning and spent the day in Madison, Mississippi at the Mississippi Mini. It has been an event that we truly enjoy attending but was unable to attend in 2014. Therefore, it was a special day to be able to spend time with some of our best friends in the Christmas decorating community. We appreciate all those involved in organizing the event. It was a fun and memorable day!!!!!
Last week we attended Christmas Expo in Ft. Worth, Texas. The very large attendance was an indication of the outstanding classes that were offered during the three day event. There was lots to be learned in all areas of Christmas decorating. I think all attendees left the event extremely motivated to begin the set up of their own Christmas display. Thanks to all that attended and thanks to the great lecturers for all the information that was shared. We've been running test shows the last couple nights. All is good so tomorrow night we will light up for the season.
The pic on the left shows 3 tallow trees in our back yard. This is what they look like today. The pic on the right shows what they will look like in mid-December.
Last week we returned from Colorado. While I toured the Rocky Mountain countryside, Walter went on an Archery Elk Hunt at Cherry Ranch in Meeker, Colorado. The first morning of his five day hunt he scored!
On July 14 we visited New Orleans to meet a group of friends that flew into the city to attend Christmas Expo in Biloxi, Mississippi. After a couple days of fun, good eats, laughter and many memories being made, we all journeyed to Biloxi, Mississippi for Christmas Expo. Since February we were part of the the team that "put together" the education segment of the event. We had some of the best in the decorating community teaching classes and sharing their expertise. Over 275 attendees gathered at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center to share ideas related to Christmas decorating. Classes on many topics were held and an awesome Vendor Room was probably the highlight of the event. To our surprise the Monkhouses and Chuck Smith were honored and recognized at the Opening Session for their contributions to the Christmas community throughout the years. Many of the "oldies" attended as well as so many of the "newbies" just entering into the hobby. The entire event was one to be remembered. See the video! |
